This word also implies scientific collaboration not only with researchers but also with citizen supporters. Our guiding principle is “collective power of science”, which means a scientific methodology using multiple detector network instead of a single huge detector. Our newly deployed multi-point observation network is monitoring winter lightning and thunderstorms in the coastal area along the Sea of Japan. Utilizing astronomical radiation measurement techniques, we are trying to solve mysteries of high energy radiations from lightning and thunderstorms. Travel in June or July to KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa to spot this extraordinary natural phenomenon.Extreme natural phenomena have provided unexplored frontier of our science. Sharks, dolphins, birds and other predators are lurking in wait, ready to strike. This phenomenon is also big enough to see from space! This stream unleashes an incredibly moving fish buffet, a kind of infinite stream of sushi, which does not go unnoticed by other sea dwellers. With a size of about 7 kilometers long, 1.5 kilometers wide and sometimes up to 30 (!) meters deep it is almost impossible to comprehend how many fish they are. The schools swim close to the water surface and sometimes seem infinite. Scientists think that the sardines move when the temperature of the water drops below 21 degrees. But where the wildebeest migrate around the same time every year, it is difficult to predict the sardine migration. This makes it one of the largest migrations in the world. Roughly between June and July, schools of billions of sardines travel along the coast of South Africa on their way to warmer waters. The sardine migration! The what migration? You read it well: sardines. The third phenomenon is a breathtaking natural phenomenon. When visiting Namibia you should not skip this phenomenon! Go and see it yourself! As a result, the landscape is not entirely overgrown with plants the circles form because the water does not come everywhere. Using similar circles found in the desert of Australia, it seems that this magical phenomenon occurs in places where there is limited water available. More research and researchers flew there to take a closer look at the magic phenomenon… and it turns out: the circles were created by plant growth and rainwater runoff. But a few years ago, a little more realistically, it was thought that the circles had been created by termites… After long research it turned out to be impossible that termites and ants could make such a similar pattern. Very early on it was thought that it might have had something to do with UFO’s or other extraterrestrials. The Fairy Circles owe their name to the fact that scientists have been thinking about the mysterious circles for years. In the sandy grasslands and plains of Namibia you can find many thousands of elliptical or round circles of elves that stand out nicely from the flat surroundings. But believe me this natural phenomenon is real and can be found in Namibia. This picture seems to be photoshopped and too unreal and magical to be true. ![]()
